With respect, your answer to this particular thread I sense instead belongs to the subject head you have just posted to below and which I want to address later . The chief point of the article was the ability of evolutionary theory to be tested and predicted with precision though paradoxically in hindsight in this case by a prime example . The article also shows how the breakdown of the Genome into 3 billion factors ,though a daunting task yet provides more data than we would find from centuries of examining the fossil record . Accusations of "Gaps in the fossil Record " so handy and heavily and conveniently relied upon by creationists will now need be reconsidered . And more genuine effort to counter evolutionists claims presented . Now that will test their scholarship ! Archaeologists and Palaentologists and their brethren Biologists can relax from some of their endeavours . While models to argue evolution`s case will be set in train using data from the DNA world . Feed the data into those waiting computers and we will have a cinematographical feast of that ghostly world of the evolutionary past unfolding before our eyes . Not just the brief snapshots so criticized in the past by those adversaries , but a tapestry of the Tree of Life showing the past and present and therefrom, predictability of the future . Even "Junk" DNA will serve expanation instead of creationists saying it has a future purpose . I have not learnt whether you , Allan , are a creationist in your own philosophy . Maybe you have stated a position which I have not noticed , or maybe , you prefer to be silent on the subject and I respect that position . But , we would both agree , all that work on the Genome is the secular world`s equivalent of discovery of the Deep Sea Scrolls and other similar writings obscured from our view . However, in this case, science has no valid reason to conceal it`s findings that is not part of it`s charter .
Did you read the link in my post above which has come at such an opportune time for the legal proponents of evolution in the Trial presently before the American Court system ? If the decision goes against the Creationist camp I sense we will witness appeal after appeal against that decision .Those appeals will be financed by the deep pockets of fundamentalist`s in the south who will not tolerate a decision going against them . No matter what legal weight or how strong the case against them .
Fortunately the case is not being heard by the Supreme Court , that august body of the American legal system that is becoming more conservative by the day under an inexorable process of graduilistic political appointments and re-appointments by a President Bush Administration of extreme and ,some might say , fundamentalist motivation . That way that court`s deliberations will more likely accord with expectations.
